Museum Strauhof Zurich
The starting point of this collaborative project was the question of how literature becomes the material of an artistic practice. What forms of recitation and transmission, of writing and rewriting do artists use when they appropriate texts? How can text take on a different form, reach a counterpart, fill a space?
The starting point of the cooperation project between the F+F School of Art and Design, the Reading School of Art (UK) and the Strauhof Museum was the question of how literature becomes the material of an artistic practice. The focus of the final exhibition at Strauhof is on performative practices and the voices of women*. “on waiting …” brings together several positions in German and English, as well as student research works. The works in the exhibition examine how meanings shift when texts are internalised and brought back out into the open: Do words acquire a different reality in this way – can social reality be reshaped in this way?
The cooperation and exhibition project between the University of Reading, the F+F and the Strauhof started in early summer 2020.
